Live reviews
When you mention Delta Heavy to the general public you gage one of two responses. 'I have never heard of them' or 'I am the most committed fan, I have heard everything they have ever produced'. It would be fair to say the London duo consisting of Ben Hall and Simon James are the epitome of a cult phenomena yet with less than five years experience on the circuit, they have achieved a following most would yearn for.
It is pretty impressive to say that the majority of these fans follow the duo because of their unmatchable technical prowess. They mix like complete professionals and consider all aspects of the live show from the visuals, the lighting, the decks and of course the crowds to best bring everything together. The whole audience lose their minds throughout the show as the pair drop remixes of dance heavyweights Avicii and Diplo without prior warning to achieve maximum effect from the baying masses. They are continuously dancing beneath the screens as the visuals change and interact with the music before it all crescendos via 'Get By'.
I guess that maybe one could say that this dubstep/drum and bass outfit, Delta Heavy are like London’s answer to Daft Punk, probably just a little bit more underground. Literally underground in this dark, 200 capacity venue in East London. They have created remixes for Rita Ora, Tinie Tempah, Avicii, DJ Fresh, Nero and Example! This band, creating a buzz in the EDM scene, has reached such success. Ben Hall and Simon James are a humble pair taking to the stage to deliver a very intimate set of some of their biggest singles. “Space Time/Take the Stairs”, opens this set with a bang seeing people hitting the ceilings and walls every time a huge drop happens, in appreciation for the duo. “I Used to Have it All”, is a fantastic mid set mixer, as it changes the pace of the evening. “Get By” the single that has reached over five and a half million on their YouTube page brings down the house when they deliver it, this evening - Great musicality indeed.
I saw Delta Heavy at The Velvet Underground in Toronto. Ben Hall put on an amazing performance, he even came down from the decks after the show to meet and take pictures with people. What a solid guy.
Would definitely recommend going to see Delta Heavy when they stop by a city near you too
Thanks

Delta Heavy was pure fire. The crowd was pure energy and they played mostly their own songs. Cn recommend them to every dnb/dubstep/drumstep fan! The perfect mixture between those genres. And also the location (bootshaus) was great as always. Hope to see them again one day.
