I came across bounce music some time ago, and of course then encountered Big Freedia, one of the leading artists in the genre. His music that crosses over many genres from electro dance, to hip hop, and EDM as well as bounce in incredibly original and fresh to listen to. I first hears Na Who Mad back in 2010 which really got me excited about his music, and from there on in I started following his career.
His live show was exciting and electric. The set started with his band and backing singers coming on stage and taking their positions to play an overture for Big Freedia’s entrance. The DJ and guitarist sorted out a awesome beat and jam whilst he came on stage with his arms in the air and shouted out a welcome to everyone in the crowd. As well as being an incredible musician, he’s an incredible performer. He was sporting his usual outfit of his long feminine wig and purse, and was cracking out some incredible dance moves. He’s been heard saying that he’s not transgender, but will answer to either he or she, and the whole performance was a great showcase of acceptance.
He was great at getting the audience involved, and kept shouting out to everyone to sing and dance along which was so much fun. The show was nearly 2 hours long, and everyone on stage maintained their energy throughout the show, and it really bounced off to the audience!
