I always find it amazing when you take a fantastic act who has quite simply been around the block a few times, earning their place in the hall of fame from doing what they’re best at, and putting them in front of a young adoring audience who have nothing but appreciation for the artist performing.
That is the situation with tonight’s performer, George McCrae, who has been showing off his soul and disco music for almost five decades now. This audience are so adoring of what he is about, enjoying every falsetto break that he does, every vocal ornamentation, not to mention the high notes! “Rock Your Baby” is the huge number one international hit that has the whole audience just on their feet wailing along with McCrae enjoying his soul and disco flavour. “I Get Lifted” makes such a positive atmosphere in this room this evening, complete with all the patrons dancing and smiling from ear to ear. There needs to be a disco revival sometime soon!
