Find out more about Rock.
Although The Whitlams have been performing and writing together for over 20 years now, after seeing them perform recently at their live show, it was evident that the years have had no negative effects on the band, as their performance was tight as ever. Although they’ve seen some line up changes over the years, it hasn’t had any repercussions on the band in my opinion, except maybe the opportunity for them to keep creating new and exciting material with the influences of lots of different, talented musicians. The heavily piano lead pop rock which was the original set up of the band has somewhat altered over the years, and the addition of the brass and bass has given their sound more of a jazzy vibe, which works really well for their music.
Although the band aren’t creating music for publication right now, they played a new track at the show, which was something they’d recently been working on, and it was an incredible experience to hear something like this pre-release. They played through Little Cloud with several improvisations and alterations from the recording, which was incredible to hear live.
