When I saw Nitzer Ebb, I was already a long time fan. This dark EBM group from Essex was introduced to me in my formative years and will always be one of my favorites in this genre. Upon arrival to the venue, we noticed that the crowd was a bit on the rough side - which is expected.
Take it from an experience concert goer: avoid the front center unless you are into hard core mosh pits that are guaranteed to break out at these shows.
After watching a few openers, Douglas McCarthy came out in his signature black suit, aviators, and slicked back hair. He carried an air of menace and stalked the stage like a black panther. They had not played our area for a while so the crowd was a little keyed up and were starting to push and shove as the aggressive music started to take hold.
As I watched, I could not help compare them to newer groups such as Combichrist or older contemporaries such as Skinny Puppy. They brought out an instrument containing massive metal pipes to close the show and the sound was so intense and dark, it seemed just perfect somehow. The crowd pushed and shoved to the sound and they raised their fists in the air as if in some tribal ecstasy.
