Thursday July 23
The Last Chance Rock and Roll Bar, Melbourne
With support from Roarcuss
Melbourne ska punk veterans, poor decision enthusiasts and part time brass deployment unit The Resignators are returning to The Last Chance Rock and Roll Bar on Thursday July 23 for an evening of loud music, rare songs and at least one band member wondering why they agreed to load heavy equipment into a venue on a weekday.
Joining them are the mighty Roarcuss, a band The Resignators have been attempting to share a stage with again ever since the two acts played together at the Dogs Bar. Through a complex combination of scheduling conflicts, life admin and what scientists call "band logistics", it has taken far longer than anyone intended. But finally, the stars have aligned.
The Resignators will be unveiling a completely refreshed set featuring rarely played material, songs dragged kicking and screaming out of the archives, and a few new tracks thrown in for good measure. This is excellent news for dedicated fans who enjoy hearing deep cuts, and mildly concerning news for people who spent weeks memorising the usual setlist.
The band would also like to remind everyone that The Last Chance Rock and Roll Bar serves some genuinely fantastic meal deals in the front bar. In a bold move rarely seen in live music promotion, The Resignators and Roarcuss are actively encouraging people to arrive early, eat dinner like responsible adults, and join the bands for a feed before the amplifiers begin their important work.
Expect singalongs. Expect riffs. Expect brass. Expect somebody from one of the bands saying, "we should do this more often," immediately before disappearing into the Melbourne night for another eighteen months.
So clear your Thursday night plans. Or invent some if you do not currently have any.
Come early. Eat something substantial. Then stand suspiciously close to the speakers.
