The Zoots were formed by singer guitarist Jamie Goddard in Maidenhead in 2009. The former Desborough and St Pirans pupil is looking forward to a homecoming concert.
The keyword for the Zoots is fun - they never stand still for a moment and with a brilliant combination of slick and well polished Shadows-style moves, make up and costume changes, switches of instruments and a backdrop of relevant video throughout, they create a show that entertains wonderfully.
In both the first 1960s set and the second 1970s set, they galloped through an impressive repertoire of retro hits than spanned from every conceivable genre from pop to soul and disco to hard rock. Truly there is something for everyone here, whether your thing is James Brown, Chic or Lynyrd Skynrd.
Within minutes of their striking up the opening chords of ‘Johnny B Goode’ they held the audience riveted and had them clapping and singing along and up and dancing.
They kept cranking out hit after hit changing costume for their excellent Beatles medley and even smashing a guitar in their cover of ‘My Generation’. Ed the sound guy even came off the desk to undertake vocals on ‘Daydream Believer’.
A Zoots gig really is a great night out.
