Man, was I glad to see this show. Honestly, after so many years of assuming I would never see this band live (since I missed them back in the day) I didn't know what I could expect. Would they have new songs I didn't even know about? Would they play the old catalogue? Would they sneak in a little GVSB?
Well, the answers are yes, kind of, and no. For some reason, I'd expected it to be heavy on the early Less Deep Inside Keeps album, and less heavy on the more experimental and dark Hot Bodi-gram. Don't get me wrong. I love all of these albums equally, but differently. And they rocked through everything — everything but Less Deep. And there was no GVSB, but I knew that was a long-shot.
While I do wish there had been just one or two tracks of that early wide-eyed punk album, they didn't disappoint with anything else, and even pulled out a few slower tunes, and a handful of new songs for an as-yet-unreleased album. So that's something to look forward to.
The crowd's getting older, and the mosh-pits of the old days are sadly more of a front-row shuffle. But the band barely seems to have changed. I'm looking forward to the next tour, now.
