US Soul/Jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater is a force of nature when performing live, and could be described more so as a performer than simply a singer. Born in Tennessee, Dee Dee had a very musical upbringing with her father being a jazz trumpeter. She joined a rock & blues band by the age of 16, and at 18 she went to study at Michigan university.
She's had a long, vast career in which to perfect her live act and the end result is stunning. Her voice is a thing of pure wonder as she performs vocal acrobatics onstage with the brilliant jazz beats ever present, it's clear to see why she's had such success throughout her life, winning three Grammy awards and a Tony Award to name a couple. Her covers of Billie Holiday are sublime, re-imagining the songwriters lofty selection of works with ease and totally making them her own onstage.
Dee Dee has performed at some of the most prestigious festivals across the world, so to see the legendary singer live is a treat. She'll be performing in the US, Italy and the UK over the coming months and tickets are still available.
