Biografía de Keith Urban

Keith Urban is a country musician, acclaimed guitarist, and grammy award winning songwriter. He was born in New Zealand on 26 October 1967, but moved to Australia during his childhood. He got his start in the music industry in Australia, but he broke into superstardom after his move to America.

Keith Urban began his musical endeavors at an early age entering in local competitions and Country Musical Festivals when he was only 10. He grew up idolizing Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knophler and Lindsay Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac fame and began closely modeling his style after these influences. For the next couple of years Urban made consistent appearances on several Australian Country TV programs and went on to win the golden guitar award at the Tamworth Country Music Festival with collaborator Jenny Wilson.

His debut album was released through EMI on 1 October 1991 and managed to reach number 98 on the Australian Album Charts. Apart from pursuing a solo career Urban was involved in writing songs for other musicians as well as backing them on tour. Urban toured alongside legendary Australian Country musician Slim Dusty as a backup guitarist. During this period he also contributed backing vocals to a live INXS album.

After Urban moved to the United States country hub, Nashville, he collaborated with Alan Jackson for the song Mercury Blues and helped pin the christmas song “Jesus Gets Jealous of Santa Claus” for Toby Keith. In 1997 Urban formed a Country three piece band called The Ranch with fellow members Peter Clarke and Jerry Flowers. Urban contributed lead vocals, guitar, ganjo, and keyboards on their one and only self-titled release. Despite the groups short lived career two singles from the album appeared on the country charts.

Around this period Urban became an ardent user of cocaine, which subsequently led him into rehab. Once Urban became drug-free his career received a significant jumpstart and with the release of his self-titled American debut he reached number 145 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and had a number 1 hit with Go-Go’s singer Charlotte Caffey. His success was amplified with his 2002 release “Golden Road”. The opening track on that album “Somebody Like You” stayed at number 1 on the charts for six weeks. His songs “Who Wouldn’t Wanna Be Me” and “ You’ll Think of Me” both topped the charts with the latter earning him a Grammy for Best Male Country Vocal Performance.

Urban has produced five more albums since “Golden Road” all which have done extraordinarily well with the public and has embarked on multiple world-tours with the likes of Bryan Adams, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift and Sugarland.

In addition to his music career Urban has acted as a judge on the Australian version of The Voice and replaced Steven Tyler as a judge for American Idol.

Hailing from the Southern state, North Carolina, in a place called Asheville resides Chase Rice, who has built up a reputation as an American country singer-songwriter. He is responsible for co-writing the huge single “Cruise” with Florida Georgia Line, and has a number one country album to his name.

Rice was born in Florida but spent his adolescence in North Carolina. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where the extra curricular country and western singer also excelled in sports being the linebacker on the football team. Prior to his country and western music career he even found himself as a cast member of Survivor: Nicaragua, which despite playing his single “Buzz Back” on, it didn’t catapult his music career the way he’d hoped, but looking on the bright side he recalls it as an important time in his life.

Rice began playing the guitar quite late in life, in fact whilst he was at University, with his father being the inspiration for him beginning to play guitar in the first place saying “boy, anyone can play guitar, but no one is gonna really listen to you until you start singing”. His debut EP came in the form of “Country as Me” which was released on March 8th 2011, but unfortunately didn’t chart. It also featured the single “Buzz Back”. The next year however, Rice released his follow up entitled “Dirt Road Communion”, released on March 20th 2012. It made it to number 48 in the US Country Chart. It was the same year that the singer-songwriter collaborated with Florida Georgia Line’s track, “Cruise”, which was an international success, charting in numerous countries. It reached the top spot on the US Hot Country Songs Chart, and number 4 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

In 2013, Rice released a 6 track EP that featured the title track “Ready Set Roll”. It reached the top spot on the iTunes Country album chart. The next year, Rice teamed up with Columbia Records for the release of his album “Ignite the Night” on August 19th 2014. It got to number seven in Canada, the number one spot on the Country Albums chart, and number three on the Billboard 200.

Catch this band on their way up, they are about to catch fire! Seeing Old Dominion on the small stage, just by themselves at the MN State Fair was a huge treat! The Leinie bandstand was packed for both shows. This was our 3rd Old Dominion show in MN this year, so it was nice to have this personal glimpse of the band. A new album by the band is pending, and so looking forward to their new music, which they played several during their concerts at the State Fair. Also they have written for so many other artists and they covered their own songs, which is fun to see. I am still waiting to hear them cover the song they wrote with Sam Hunt "Make You Miss Me". Old Dominion writes their own lyrics and music, and they are a full band with such great depth of talent, between Matthew, Trevor and Brad who are the writers, singers and guitarists, Brad leading the guitar talent, and Trevor also on the keyboard. Matthew, the lead has such a rich voice with a full range of emotion packed into it. Whit on the drums and Geoff on bass complete the band. The humor the band shows in many of their songs comes through when on stage. Go see them!

Great crowd interaction and high energy.
Loved his vibe and would definitely see him again.His new song about his granddad's was so heartfelt and relatable. Also it was a treat when he played with Brad Paisley and Chris Lane.

Another stellar performance by KEITH URBAN!! But then again, Keith doesn't give anything but those kind of performances. The show at Delaware State Fair was my 31st show for Keith and it will not be my last. I had pit tickets for this show and arrived about 3 pm to get in line. Yes, it is a long time to wait for entrance to the arena but it is worth every minute to be able to stand so close to the stage and see every expression on Keith's face as he plays. Keith started the show off with high energy and kept it going all the way through. He played many songs from the new Fuse album but also played the tried and true favorites. A special part of the show is when Keith goes out into the audience to play SHIRT and then gives away his guitar to a fan standing nearby. On his way back up to the big stage he walked in front of us on the first row and I got a hand squeeze! I think Keith would have loved to play longer but stopped about 10 minutes shy of 2 hours because the fireworks were getting ready to go off. This man always gives his all in each performance and always leaves me wanting to see him again!

Like many country singers before him, Chase Rice is a tireless entertainer who knows how to work a crowd. Right now his best known credit might be for writing Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise,” but even bigger things are in store now that he’s the one performing the tuneful and catchy songs he’s written. I didn’t really know too much about Chase Rice before I went to see his “Ignite the Night” album release show at Bowery Ballroom. Sure, I had seen a couple of friends mention his name on Twitter as far back as 2012, but I never followed up on him as much as I should have. However, I’ve been on a country kick lately and the ticket wasn’t expensive, so I didn’t have much to lose. As it turns out, Chase Rice puts on one heck of a show! As I mentioned, this was an album release show, so there was no opening act. Chase and his band played for about an hour and a half, covering most of the material from the new album, as well as a selection of covers ranging from Garth Brooks’ “The Dance” to Lit’s “My Own Worst Enemy.” Chase is only two years younger than I am, so a lot of songs that hold nostalgic value for him have a similar place in my heart, and it was fun to hear a country-fried take on some hip-hop and rock gems from my youth. Both Chase and the crowd were full of energy and definitely fed off one another. The night was one big party with lots of call-and-response choruses to really get everybody going and make the crowd feel like an integral part of the show. Chase is certainly a talented singer and songwriter and an extremely charismatic performer. His band is also highly talented and just as full of energy as Chase himself. Chase Rice is a perfect choice if your looking to have a good time and hear some great music.

Billy Dean – what a whopping list of achievements. He’s had three hit songs reach number 3 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts: the poignant ‘Only Here for a Little While’, the brutally honest ‘Somewhere in My Broken Heart’, and the absolute classic ‘If There Hadn't Been You’ and seven others reach top ten. He’s lent his talents as backing vocalist to Kenny Rogers for his number 1 chart topper, ‘Buy Me a Rose’. He’s had three studio albums and a greatest hits certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America and has starred in Kenny Rogers’s musical The Toy Shoppe. He is one of country music’s shining stars and watching him perform is a huge privilege.
He plays the kind of music that makes you want to grab your lady, turn the lights down and dance slow and intimate-like. His soft country balladry is a real mood-setter. His latest single ‘I Can't Leave a Good Thing’ is a particularly tear-jerking little number about the challenges of a dedicated relationship. As always, Billy Dean sings with a real honesty and connects with his fans like only a true country star knows how.

It’s refreshing to see a lead singer as a bass player, and Collin Raye walked on stage at his show, holding his bass, and sat himself down at the stool centre stage. Raye is an incredible singer/songwriter, and brings country music to life in a time when there is such an abundance of the genre, and he breathes a breath of fresh air into its sails.
He opened the show with Love Me, singing the first few lines just accompanying himself on the bass, before his stellar country band kicked in behind him. They had everyone hand clapping and foot stamping from start to finish, and Raye encouraged everyone by putting his hands in the air and signalling for the crowd to join in. With a back catalogue of so many hits and awesome albums, I wasn’t sure what Raye was going to pick, or indeed how he was going to chose a set list. He chose to play a selection of his older hits, as well as his lesser known but newer tracks. It was all great and of a very high standard.
Raye’s vocals are incredible, and you would only know in the experience that he has been playing for over 20 years, he is strong as ever. His dedication to the performance was contagious, and he had the audience on his side from the start. It was a brilliant show, with such a showcase of talent as well as great songs.

And seeing it in a dance hall made it so much better.
