Malo Moray & Jan Soutschek are a Leipzig-based ambient/Americana/jazz duo playing double bass, pedal steel, and live electronics. In sprawling improvisations, they sink deep into the subconscious, playfully reinventing their instruments along the way. Spherical soundscapes shimmer through with singing melody, plucked arpeggios, and sparse beats, searching for calm and honesty in turbulent times. An evening between ambient, Americana, and jazz, for fans of Brian Eno, Laurie Anderson, David Sylvian, Soundwalk Collective, and Talking Heads.

Malo Moray and Jan Soutschek first met at a children's birthday party. What began as a chance encounter between cream puffs and Lego bricks grew into a shared exploration between steel strings and effects pedals: what happens when you electronically branch out familiar instruments, giving them entirely new meaning?

In winter 2026, Malo Moray & Jan Soutschek will give their live premiere in Leipzig and Kassel for the release of their joint EP ARUA. Double bass and electronics meet pedal steel and effects loops: ambient merges with Americana and jazz, with excursions into downbeat and electronica. Music as an embrace of being — curious deep listening across all genres in a completely unique sonic language. Further dates will follow in 2027 as part of the release of the full-length album AURA.
