Join us for the only chance to see Wax Tailor live in the UK this year, as he brings his special Solo Set + Video Show to the immersive surroundings of the CULTVR Dome.

Wax Tailor is one of the pioneering figures of the French independent hip-hop and electronic scene. After spending a decade developing his craft as a DJ, producer, composer and manager, he broke through internationally with the 2004 EP Lost The Way, followed by his landmark debut album Tales of the Forgotten Melodies (2005), now regarded as a classic of the genre.

Over the past two decades, Wax Tailor has built an international career with 7 studio albums, a live album recorded at the Olympia in Paris, numerous EPs and more than 600 concerts across over 50 countries, performing for more than one million spectators worldwide.

His work has earned three nominations for “Best Electronic Album” at the French Victoires de la Musique, the Independent Music Award in the United States, and the SACEM Grand Prize for Electronic Music.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with a wide range of acclaimed artists including Sharon Jones, Ghostface Killah, Tricky, Lee Fields, Aloe Blacc, Mark Lanegan, R.A The Rugged Man, Mike Jenkins Charlie Winston, Del The Funky Homosapien, Ursula Rucker, Jennifer Charles, Elzhi… while also producing remixes for artists such as Nina Simone, Ayo and Asa.

Recognised for his cinematic sound, meticulous production and fiercely independent approach, Wax Tailor has established himself as one of the leading ambassadors of the French electronic and hip-hop scene, continuing to evolve while remaining true to his distinctive artistic identity.

Biografía de Wax Tailor

Wax Tailor is the stage name of Jean-Christophe Le Saoût, a French trip-hop and hip-hop DJ, music producer and label owner born July 19, 1975 in Vernon, Eure, France.

Le Saoût started out hosting a French radio show in the Parisian suburb of Mantes-La-Jolie and starting the French rap group titled La Formule in the 1990s, Le Saoût created his own label in 1998 named Lab’Oratoure. Using his label Le Saoût produced records from La Formule and Break Beat compilations, as well as collaborating with the Swedish band Looptroop. Wax Tailor came about in 2001 with Le Saoût’s appearance on a remix of Looptroops & La Formule’s “Deep Under Water”.

In 2004 Wax Tailor made it’s original debut with the EP “Lost the Way” which features Charlotte Savary, Marina Quaisse and Infinite Livez, and the follow up EP “Que Sera / Where My Heart’s At” in the same year. Le Saoût’s first full-length album titled “Tales of the Forgotten Melodies” was released March 2005 and became popular in both France and the United States making waves on the CMJ chart that year. The album was noted for mixing samples from popular movies, with hip/trip-hop and downtempo sounds.

Wax Tailor’s sophomore studio album, 2007’s “Hope & Sorrow” represented a growing popularity towards the French producer with the album peaking at No. 31 in the French chart, compared with No. 150 on the first album. After “Hope & Sorrows’” release, which won the best Dance/Electronica album at the 7th Annual Independent music awards, Le Saoût performed a number of live shows with his four-piece band that set the scene for future recordings.

Wax Tailor 2009 full-length album “In The Mood For Life” charted at No. 9 and 2012’s “Dusty Rainbow From The Dark” peaked at No. 8. The latter is a concept album, telling the story of a young boy’s discovery of the huge incredible power of music. Guest vocal on the album were contributed by Charlotte Savary, Ali Harter and Sara Genn among others and is his third album to be nominated for Best Electronic album after “Hope & Sorrow” and “In The Mood for Life”.

Wax Tailor drops the beats hard with his electronic techno music, I had the pleasure of going to my first electronic concert at a Wax Tailor concert. The concert happened after he dropped his banger album Dusty Rainbow From The Dark.

This album was just pure goodness and hearing it dj-ed live was amazing! All I could remember was his entrance song with EP titled Que Sera / Where My Heart's At coming out with smoke and fog machines, it sent chills all over my body. I loved every second, the beats, the smoke, the lights, the atmosphere of people just looking like they love life.

The crowd is the best part because they are super friendly, love the music, genuine and love to talk about the music between set changes.

I met a friend during one of these concerts and we still talk to this day and go to plenty electronic concerts. So thanks Wax Tailor for giving me a new friend.
